OPEN LIBRARY

DartSolar has committed to ensure its products are repairable and printable. We have open sourced our plastic parts to help our customers in the field to quickly repair any DartSolar.

How it works

1. Enter your email. Use the form below. We’ll add you to our Open Library list, which tells you when parts are added or files are revised.

2. Accept the Open Hardware Agreement. Check the box to confirm you’ve read the agreement below, the CERN-OHL-S v2 license and our Open Repairs Policy.

3. Get the .step files. After you agree to the terms below and enter your email address we will redirect you to our public Google Drive where you can download all the Open Library parts.

In summary

Checking the box below means you agree to:

• The license. The files are released under the CERN Open Hardware Licence v2 – Strongly Reciprocal (CERN-OHL-S v2). You may use, study, modify, print and share them, and make and sell parts from them.

• Share alike. If you share a modified design, or parts made from one, you must publish your modified files under CERN-OHL-S v2 too.

• Keep the notice. Every file starts with a notice giving our copyright, the licence and where the files come from. Keep it in every copy you share. If you change a file, add a dated note saying what you changed.

• No warranty. The files are provided as is. A part you print isn’t made, inspected or tested by DartSolar and isn’t covered by our Limited Warranty. You alone decide whether a part you make is safe to use on a vehicle.

• Our name. The licence gives you no rights to the DartSolar name or logo. Don’t call parts you make DartSolar parts or suggest we made or endorse them. Saying a part is “compatible with a DartSolar” is fine.

• Your email. We add you to our Open list. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we don’t sell your address. See our Privacy Policy.

• Improvements. If you send us an improvement, you agree it’s licensed to us and everyone else under CERN-OHL-S v2. Read the full licence: CERN-OHL-S v2. For how printed parts affect your warranty, see the Open Repairs Policy.

Before you print

• Use the right material. These parts live on a vehicle roof in sun, heat, wind and vibration. Print them in a UV-stable material such as ASA.

• 0.4 mm nozzle diameter. All open parts have been tested on the DartSolar and printed with a 0.4 mm nozzle. Please use the same nozzle size. Files that contain the word “shoe” need to be printed with TPU. A 0.8 mm nozzle for TPU prints is acceptable as well.

• Inspect printed parts more often than original ones. Replace a part at the first sign of hairline cracks, a chalky surface, or layers separating.

• Plastic parts only. Never print substitutes for metal parts, wiring, electronics or solar panels. The Open Repairs Policy lists what’s in and out of scope.
